Excerpt from The Diary of Samuel Pepys, M. A., F. R. S., Clerk of the Arts and Secretary of the Admiralty, Vol. 15: May 1, 1668 Nov. 5, 1668

The dispute here alluded to had its origin in a petition against the East India Company, presented to the Peers by Thomas Skinner, a mer chant, which led to the memorable quarrel between the two Houses of Parliament upon a question of privilege.
