Intrigued by her family's past connection with Vietnam Catherine Danyers takes a break from her life in Paris to explore their history in French colonial Vietnam. Catherine's great great grandfather, Claude Danyers, first moved to Vietnam in 1900 using his engineering skills to build the bridge that spans the Red River. Drawn to this colonial life generations followed only returning to France as the Viet Minh fought the French at Dien Bien Phu.
As Catherine revisits the modern day locations of family stories some buried truths are revealed.
